Title: Director of Finance & StrategyReports to: Managing DirectorDepartment: FinanceFLSA Status: ExemptInterested in this role You can find all the relevant information in the description below.Location: CA - reach out for more detailsDirect Reports: Operations Controllers, A/R Manager, Senior AccountantSummary:Partner with the Managing Director, sales and operations teams, and accounting team for a $400M global industrial operation to drive positive financial performance and strategic direction. Position will be a leader in the organization through improved financial leadership and strategic decision making to support all departments within the business, using strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. This employee will maximize the financial performance of the company over the short, medium, and long term based on a foundation of timely reporting, fact-based analytics, and strong internal controls. This employee exercises discretion and independent judgment in the performance of the business operations. This is not just an accounting position; it is a strategic and financial leadership partner to the business and is expected to challenge business partners to drive continuous improvement.Primary Responsibilities:The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Direct and coordinate the preparation of budgets, forecasts, financial statements, and all related activity, including monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting, including coordination and preparation with external and internal auditors.Build a strong, capable team with a reputation for achieving company objectives in an effective, efficient manner, providing leadership, mentoring, and training.Proactively manages costs and actively participates in management decisions.Provide value-added, fact-based analytics through the interpretation of financial results. Provide financial guidance to business leadership in order to make more effective decisions. Drive improved decision-making through insightful analysis and strong relationships with key operations personnel.Lead key operational initiatives (operational excellence, supply chain optimization, acquisitions, etc.). Develop and execute the company's strategic plan in partnership with the executive team, identifying market trends, new growth opportunities, and ensuring the company is well-positioned in the market.Provide guidance for pricing management on pricing models and tools, project pricing, strategic territory or country pricing, and pricing promotions. Provide sales margin analysis of both costs and revenue/pricing, as well as break-even analysis to improve product margins and maximize sales.Establish and implement local policies and procedures. Responsible for maintaining the established Internal Control Systems and Risk Management templates. Ensure effective and proactive processes are in place for identifying and remedying potential internal control risks, taking primary responsibility for the internal control and risk environment of the business.Support net working capital (inventory, receivables, payables), and manage banking, to improve cash performance.Develop financial data necessary for the preparation and evaluation of budgets, forecasts, and investment plans.Oversee applications for Capital Expenditures that will provide the best long-term ROI and payback.Direct government, tax, and internal reporting.Provide leadership and analyze sales and operational metrics to identify trends, support strategic changes and improve the company's financial performanceProvide leadership in directing product costing and production variance analysis at each location to improve business understanding of key drivers of manufacturing costs.Lead strategic planning, including market analysis, customer analysis, scenario planning, SWOT analysis, and competitive analysis, including defining clear KPIs and milestonesBuild business cases and direct & review business cases for strategic initiativesIdentify, evaluate, and execute strategic growth initiatives, including organic expansion and M&ALead due diligence, valuation, and integration planning for acquisitions.Oversee the development of financial analysis tools to assist in improved operations insights.Implement lean principals for back office functions as well as active participation in lean activities in other business area. Provide organizational leadership to drive continuous improvement.Knowledge and Skill Requirement:This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance. CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.Strong leader able to interface with all departments in the company and provide guidance to team members.Seven to ten (7-10) years of experience in accounting and finance, including two (2) years of supervisory experience, is desirable in heavy manufacturing industry (preferably plastics injection molding and/or extrusion).Proactive personality to be an active partner to general management.Experience with lean manufacturing practices.Executive-level verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including analytical and interpersonal skills.Thorough knowledge of all accounting and tax-related legislation, regulations and reporting procedures.Thorough understanding of all accounting functional areas.Understanding of cost accounting system in a complex manufacturing environment.Proficiency in IT skills (SAP, Oracle, Cognos, MS Office).
