Application Packaging Engineer - MECM
We are seeking an Application Packaging Engineer to support our client's enterprise-wide End-of-Life (EOL) Software Management Initiative. Over time, their internal software catalog has accumulated a significant number of legacy, redundant, and unsupported applications. This initiative aims to identify, assess, and retire these titles to reduce risk, cost, and complexity across the organization. You will be responsible for analyzing installed software, evaluating usage and support status, and collaborating with stakeholders to plan and execute EOL strategiesKey ResponsibilitiesLead and support full lifecycle EOL software project activitiesCoordinate with project managers and engineering teamsManage risks, issues, and change requestsEnsure successful decommissioning of targeted softwareConduct environment-wide software discovery and usage analysisIdentify unsupported, vulnerable, and redundant software titlesCollaborate with security, compliance, and engineering teams to validate EOLDocument findings, decisions, and remediation plansEnsure compliance with internal standards and industry best practiceProvide technical leadership and guidance on software lifecycle managementPresent findings and recommendations to technical and business audiencesExecute standard packaging performance activities including pre-packaging research, packaging work, and quality control/validationManage MECM integration and application creationValidate install/uninstall processes via MECMCreate and manage Active Directory groups for applications in test and production environmentsCollaborate with customers during user acceptance testing (UAT)Create user-centric collections via the User-Centric Right-Click Tool and manual query creationSetup pilot and production deployments through MECM, including change management documentationRetire and delete old software versions from Active Directory, MECM, and MDTCommunicate software retirement and deployment notifications to appropriate groupsRequired QualificationsStrong understanding of software lifecycle and EOL processesProficiency in PowerShell, SQL, WQL, and Power BIExperience with software inventory toolsExperience with Change Management Processes, including initiating, documenting, and submitting change ticketsExperience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM)Experience with packaging, repackaging, and software deployment technologiesFamiliarity with Windows 10/11, macOS, or VDI enterprise environmentsAdvanced analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively across teamsExcellent communication and documentation skillsDesired Skills & ExperienceExperience with Splunk/Uber AgentExperience with InstallShield and Liquid ware Flex App3+ years of Software Package Engineering experienceJ-18808-Ljbffr
