Stewardship DevelopmentRemote (West Coast Hours)OverviewStewardship Development is hiring a Controller to support its growing portfolio of real estate development projects. This is a newly created role due to increased workload at the CFO level and will play a key role in strengthening financial operations across the organization.The company focuses on mission driven housing development, managing multiple projects from construction through lease up and ongoing operations. This role will partner closely with leadership and have visibility across all active projects.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee accounting operations across multiple entities, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reportingManage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with GAAPPrepare financial reports and elevate reporting for state agencies, lenders, and stakeholdersTrack project budgets, manage construction draws, and support funding requestsPartner with the development team on pro formas, financial modeling, and sources and usesMonitor property and portfolio performance against budgets and projectionsSupport cash management, debt tracking, and lender reportingEnsure compliance with applicable regulatory and funding requirementsCoordinate audits, tax filings, and external partnersIdentify and improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controlsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experienceStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingReal estate, development, construction, or property management experience preferredLIHTC experience is a plus but not requiredWhat They’re Looking ForStrong ownership mindset and ability to work independentlyHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslySystems oriented with a process improvement mindsetDetail oriented with strong analytical skillsCollaborative and team focusedWork EnvironmentFully remote with West Coast working hoursSmall, collaborative team environmentMinimal travel, occasional site visits as neededCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salaryBonus potential tied to project milestones401k with company matchUnlimited PTO based on performanceNote: Health insurance is not currently offeredWhy JoinMission driven organization with meaningful impactHigh visibility role with opportunity to shape the functionStrong team culture with long term growth potentialOpportunity to grow with the company and expand responsibilities over time
