Position SummaryThe faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.About the Program:American River College is seeking a full-time faculty member in Interior Design to teach lecture and lab courses within the Interior Design (IDES) program. The position carries a standard full-time teaching load of approximately 1.0 FTE per semester and includes responsibilities in instruction, curriculum development, student advising, and shared governance.The program emphasizes culturally responsive and equity-minded teaching practices, ongoing development and revision of Interior Design curriculum, and collaborative work with colleagues on department, college, and district initiatives and committees. Faculty are encouraged to create and teach assignments and course activities that reflect industry standards and best practices for the workplace. The IDES program is aligned with current industry practices and professional standards in interior design, including standards advanced through professional organizations such as the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and comparable professional associations. The program also reflects current practices, processes, and technologies used in the field. Technologies used by the IDES program include industry-standard interior design software to support instruction and student skill development, such as Autodesk's Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor and SketchUp.This position also integrates American River College's Strategic Goals into curriculum, instruction, and program development, with particular attention to equity, access, and student completion.
