Senior Structural Engineer
Overview
In this role you will drive structural design excellence on small to medium projects while leading teams on larger efforts. You collaborate across disciplines to deliver services that align with Stantec’s mission of sustainable, life-enhancing design. You will assess and specify structural systems, perform CA duties, and ensure projects meet time, budget, and client expectations. This is an opportunity to shape impactful buildings within a collaborative, design-led practice.
ResponsibilitiesIndependently complete calculations and drawings for small and medium projectsDevelop job-specific discipline specifications for less complex projectsLead junior engineers on complex projectsCoordinate with architectural interiors and other engineering disciplinesPerform Construction Administration duties (field observations, RFIs, submittals, change orders)Perform calculations using standard and proprietary softwareCommunicate design issues and solutions with design team and Owner clientsUnderstand industry standard design processes and construction means/methodsWork within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver on time and to high client serviceAssist with development of design standards
Key requirementsRequisite knowledge of structural design codes and building codesStrong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means/methods, materialsAbility to communicate concepts to diverse audiences (Architects, Engineers, Clients)Ability to check others' work for accuracy and manage time to meet budgets/schedulesStrong organizational and teamwork skills; ability to work independentlyExperience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit)Experience with MS Office and industry-standard structural software (CSI, RISA, RAM)Professional Engineering license required; Structural Engineering license preferredMinimum 6 years of related experienceBachelor's degree in Engineering; Master’s degree preferredEffective communicationCollaboration and teamworkTime managementAutodesk RevitCSIRISA
