Parks Maintenance Supervisor - Beaches Nighttime Custodial

Night Beach Custodial Supervisor Work Location: Reports to Coquina Beach Maintenance, 2653 Gulf Drive S., Bradenton Beach, oversees Coquina, Cortez, Manatee, Bayfront beaches and beach boat ramps. Work Hours: Friday - Tuesday, 3:30pm - 12:00am (Days and Hours may vary depending on beach needs). Expected Starting Hourly Range: $32.20 - $40.25 Employment screenings, as outlined in the Personnel Policy, Rules, and Procedures Manual, will be conducted in compliance with applicable federal and Florida Laws. Working Conditions The work environment may include exposure to high noise levels while performing certain essential job functions. The position requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work may involve strenuous physical activity under varying climatic conditions and in both indoor and outdoor environments Area of Assignment: Night Beach Custodial Supervisor Join our team ensuring pristine, safe beaches. Responsible for overseeing custodial staff and assists with cleaning restrooms, removing trash, performing minor repairs/lockdowns of facilities, and managing supplies, with a focus on excellent guest service. Must work a 7-day rotational schedule (nights/weekends/holidays) and possess basic maintenance skills. Places supply orders as needed. Partner with the Daytime Beach Supervisor to facilitate seamless shift changes and maintain continuous, all-day coverage of beach operations. Responsible for performing routine maintenance and minor repairs in plumbing, electrical, and general facility systems. Coordinates with external vendors for major repairs and specialized services. Appropriately applies advanced knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment, as well as associated safety rules and regulations, related to area of assignment. Conducts interviews and makes recommendations for hiring; plans, assigns, directs and evaluates work of assigned staff; assists with other Human Resources-related activities, i.e., promotions, demotions, disciplinary actions, grievances, terminations, etc. Performs, and supervises assigned staff and outside labor in the performance of, a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work associated with construction, maintenance and repair of parks grounds and facilities, including operation and maintenance of related tools and equipment, troubleshooting problems or defects, making proper repairs and adjustments, reporting deficiencies, preparing and maintaining appropriate reports and records, etc. Reads, interprets and works from blueprints, schematics and diagrams. Assists supervisor with developing plans, setting priorities, preparing schedules for maintenance and improvement of parks and related facilities, and other activities as appropriate. Ensures proper inventory control of departmental equipment, tools, supplies, and materials. Provides instruction to staff regarding park operations, training, safety programs, building and grounds maintenance and repair, security programs, proper use of equipment and tools, etc. Prepares estimates and orders for required materials and services; maintains and monitors comprehensive records of work orders, scheduled completion dates, work progress/delays, etc.; keeps management apprised of statuses. Makes worksite inspections, ensuring work is performed in accordance with applicable policies, rules, procedures and standards, including safety guidelines. Responds to emergency calls and situations as needed or directed, including evenings, weekends and holidays. In accordance with area of assignment, may be required to keep current and ensure compliance with procedures/guidelines for the following: Fertilizer and weed/pest application and control techniques, including proper use of related chemicals; building trades functions, i.e., minor electrical, plumbing, mechanical, masonry, carpentry, etc.; small engine repair and maintenance. Requests and assists in coordinating use of specialized equipment, i.e., bucket truck, heavy equipment, etc. May require operation of "stand alone" and/or "network" computers, utilizing applicable software applications, which may include, but not be limited to, the following: Word Processing, Work Management Systems, Electronic Mail, Electronic Purchasing/Requisitions, Inventory Management, Spreadsheets, etc. Communicates and interacts with others in a clear, effective and tactful manner, orally and in writing. Performs other related duties as assigned, including participation in emergency or disaster response activities, as required and consistent with the employee's qualifications, essential job functions, and applicable federal and Florida law. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent certificate of competency. Minimum of four (4) years' experience in general grounds maintenance, building maintenance and construction, or small engine repair and maintenance (in accordance with area of assignment.) Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience or must complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of supervisory training (type determined by department) within one (1) year of hire. Valid driver's license required with valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Depending on area of assignment, valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to perform strenuous work under varying weather (including inclement) conditions.
