Founding Robotics Engineer
Company DescriptionWe’re addressing the growing gap between care needed and care provided, driven by the global aging population, by building robots that help people remain in their homes later in life, starting with assisted living. These robots will improve the lives of billions of people across the globe.Role DescriptionWe are hiring a Founding Robotics Engineer to lead development of our robotics software stack and system design. The role spans perception, navigation, mapping, sense-and-avoid, robot manipulation -- building the systems that enable our robots to understand and interact with the world. You will design and implement algorithms, integrate them into production-ready code, and validate performance in both simulation and real-world environments. You will develop software to integrate subsystems across communication, actuation, mobility, and a range of sensors including lidar and cameras. This role is for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced setting and enjoys building end-to-end: from low-level implementation to high-level system integration. You’ll work across software layers to deliver reliable, adaptable, and scalable autonomy.QualificationsStrong background in robotics, computer vision, manipulation, and autonomous systems.Proficiency in C/C++ and Python, with experience developing robust, maintainable software.Hands-on experience with perception, SLAM, motion planning, and navigation systems, as well as robotics software stacks (e.g., ROS/ROS 2).Experience with robotics simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo, Isaac Sim, PyBullet, Mujoco, or Unreal) for sensor, physics, and environment modeling.Ability to prototype quickly, test effectively, and refine algorithms in both simulation and hardware environments.Demonstrated ownership of technical problems from design through deployment.Collaborative and pragmatic approach to engineering, with a focus on delivering working systems.Experience with Nvidia compute platforms (e.g., Jetson, Xavier, Orin).Strong leadership and communication skills.8+ years of experience.BS/MS/PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. How We WorkSmall team, fast decisions, full context. Direct line to the CEO with real ownership over technical direction. Async-first with daily syncs. Principal-level judgment expected: scope your own work, surface risks early, and produce artifacts others can build on. We are pre-revenue with customers lined up. The work you do here ships to real environments serving real people. This is not a research project. As an early technical hire with full architectural ownership, this role has a clear path to CTO as the company scales.
