Registered Nurse - Critical Care

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.Duties include but are not limited to:Provide independent direct care for acutely/critically ill patients with complex needs in alignment with the ANA standards of Nursing Practice.Provide high intensity care and vigilance while refining assessments skills and blending in data obtained from a variety of invasive/noninvasive monitoring technology.Functions as an emerging leader in providing direction to staff to identify, implement and evaluate patient care needs.Will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and providing quality improvement and enhance outcomes utilization.Must integrate knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgement and is self-directed when managing complex situations.Maintains professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities and act in the best interest of the patient, maintaining ethical behavior.Recognizes ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and models appropriate action by providing and directing others in the provision of care following established policies and ANC Code of Ethics for Nurses.Actively contributes to the collaboration process and clearly communicates ideas to promote team success and makes meaningful and challenging contributions for the betterment of the work group.Demonstrate the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities, while effectively handling multiple demands and anticipates and resolves conflict while making sound decisions under pressure.Demonstrate competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, integrating theoretical concepts, critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice.Preferred Specialized Experience:BLS CertificationACLS/PALS/NRP preferred - can be obtained upon hireMinimum 2 years ICU/CCU experienceVA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Night Shift (12-hour shift)Compressed/Flexible: Not AuthorizedTelework: Not AvailableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not AuthorizedEDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
