Now Hiring: Vice President, Commercial Loan OfficerThe Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer will manage and develop a commercial business portfolio through prospecting, leveraging relationships with centers of influence, and identifying cross-selling opportunities with existing members. This role will report to our Vice President, Commercial Lending & Business Services and will be based out of one of our Lowell, MA office locations. Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Cultivates new lending and deposit opportunities that can be developed into strategic relationships; develops, retains, and maintains loan and deposit relationships with business members. Coordinates the generation, underwriting, and management of commercial loans. Exercises due diligence in analyzing loans, including assessing risks, real estate analysis, cash flow, profitability, and credit while adhering to regulatory requirements and internal loan policies. Interviews business loan applicants; researches business; collects and analyzes tax and financial information to determine the current creditworthiness of the potential borrower. Understands and maintains a broad level of knowledge on small business & commercial products to foster relationship-building initiatives. Keeps informed of loan policy, required documentation, structuring, and regulatory requirements. Assists in the management of the loan portfolio to ensure credit quality and to minimize loan losses. Ensures borrowing members adhere to loan covenants, maintains current member risk ratings, and ensures credit files remain current. Reviews maturing loans and presents for renewal if applicable. Manages and gathers financial information to perform annual loan reviews, adheres to loan policies and compliance with financial covenants, recommends changes to risk ratings when appropriate, and monitors covenant compliance. Conducts yearly site visits to coordinate with annual loan review of the commercial portfolio if necessary. Assists in resolving commercial business loan delinquencies and servicing issues. Deescalates challenging member situations by problem-solving, exercising sound judgment and decision-making skills while demonstrating a special effort to say "yes." Analyzes loan requests, terms, evaluation of credit risk, and other vital factors and presents administrative issues for approval. Supports department metrics and monitors metric performance. Identifies opportunities to build awareness, share successes, and close gaps relative to performance inhibitors. Participates in the development of overall department operating policies and procedures. Promotes Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union through community involvement, memberships in organizations and business networks, and visibility at community events and activities sponsored and supported by the Credit Union. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge & Skills: Seven to ten years of related experience. Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record with a minimum of two years of driving experience. Bachelor's degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to motivate and influence others. Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills are required, including the ability to diffuse upset members skillfully and gain the trust and cooperation of others. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required, including providing clear delegation of tasks and presenting confidently to individuals at all levels outside and within the Credit Union, including the Executive team. Empathy, patience, active listening, and sound judgment are required. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy, and tact in communication. Ability to understand and communicate products, services, and regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, business applications, and learning the core system and other related software are required. Apply cognitive reasoning to daily tasks, take ownership, and work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Writing, reading, and comprehending complex instructions, correspondence, memos, policies, and procedures is required. Ability to dissect raw data into a summarized analysis and perform research on current and new lending practices is required. Applies knowledge and experience to develop solutions and implement appropriate actions. Must be highly motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and skillful with time management. Efficient with multitasking, decision-making, problem-solving, and practical application. Must be able to work in a professional, fast-paced environment while managing a high-volume pipeline without sacrificing the quality and accuracy of work performed. Position requires driving and frequent local travel, attendance at events, and may require work to be performed both in-office and remotely during and outside of regular business hours.
