Specialist Routing

Job OverviewThe Specialist Routing will oversee and continually evaluate Transportation Department routes and routing software used for supporting day-to-day operations. This position works with the Transportation Routing Supervisor, utilizing Global Positioning Systems information and data to create safe, reliable, and efficient routing for all transportation terminals and needs.Position DescriptionEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdministrativeCommunicate effectively with supervisors, schools, the public, and bus drivers regarding bus route issues and changes that would reflect on the Fort Bend ISD School Zone & Bus Route Web Query Maintain a professional tone in all inter- and intra-office communications, whether email, phone or person, and strive for a high level of customer service Prioritize confidentiality where and as needed Develop, and modify as needed, bus routes based on student enrollment and attendance boundaries zones. Create new 2-mile and hazardous boundaries, stops, runs and make adjustments to reflect the changes Maintain accurate roster of students for reporting purposes and eligibility requirements Provide accurate/ up to date route information and other data supporting preparation of state and local transportation reports Support appropriate District personnel regarding the use of routing software (TransFinder) that is used for generating reports Develop, modify, and maintain Routing reports required for campus, administrator, and transportation record purposes Maintain and update student stop count and AM/PM stop times for routing software program Perform routing optimization for the following school year and other required beginning and end of the year processes as necessary Analyze, configure and generate student data in routing software Visit site locations as needed to inspect street locations and address locations Work on special projects assigned by the Routing Supervisor Work to create and maintain a positive work environment Reconcile routes to reflect accuracy with E-SHARS reports ClericalExhibit proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookPerform general office administrative duties Act as substitute dispatcher when needed and communicate information required to continue operations of all Transportation functions.
