Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionSALARY: $19.00+ depending on experiencePOSITION SUMMARYSupport the Facilities Team at Wayside Waifs by providing preventative maintenance and repair to the Organization's buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment. Assist the Facilities Team by proactively and efficiently maintaining the physical plant of Wayside Waifs, as directed by the Facilities Manager. Assist Pet Memorial Services department with tasks as needed and transport deceased pets from area veterinary clinics to Wayside Waifs for cremation.PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIESPerform minor repairs to Wayside Waifs' plant and equipment including, but not limited to:PlumbingElectricalHVACFilter changes and coil cleaningScheduling and/or performing light automotive maintenanceGutter cleaningAssist Pet Memorial Services department including, but not limited to:Mowing grassWeed-eatingSnow removalDigging/preparing pet grave sitesSetting headstonesGeneral upkeep of the cemeteryTransport of deceased animalsRequirementsPOSITION REQUIREMENTSEssential Functions/Key CompetenciesMust demonstrate initiative, sound judgement, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skillsHave the ability to work under pressure at timesMust possess a positive attitude and good customer service skillsMust be able to lift 75 lbs. to waist heightMust be flexible and available to work some evenings, weekends, or holidays if necessaryBe able to work with exposure to outside weather conditionsRequired to report to work to clear the parking lot and sidewalks when the shelter is closed due to inclement weather conditionsSignificant amount of kneeling and standing during a typical day, exposure to animals, animal smells, and airborne particlesExposure to animal wasteCurrent driver's license and clean driving record required; the use of Wayside vehicles is requiredEducation/ExperienceHigh School degree or GED equivalentPrior maintenance experience preferredWORKING ENVIRONMENT:Working indoors, in animal shelter spaces, and working outdoors, traveling when required, in year-round weather conditions. Use of a computer, keyboard, telephone, and office equipment. Potential exposure to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
