Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) | Robstown, Texas

A part-time opportunity is available for an experienced Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support students within a school district located in Southeast Texas Coast. This contract position offers approximately 16 hours per week, with a schedule currently set for two days per week (8 hours per day). The assignment begins ASAP and runs through late May 2026, providing specialized support to students needing orientation and mobility services.Key Responsibilities:Assess and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans for students with visual impairments.Provide direct instruction and support to enhance student independence and safety.Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to integrate mobility goals.Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance with district policies.Participate in professional development and meetings to support student success.Qualifications and Experience:Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification required.AVCREP certification or an equivalent credential is necessary.Ability to complete Texas fingerprinting and meet time-sensitive credentialing requirements.Experience working with school-age children, preferably across varied educational settings.Strong communication and organizational skills.Availability to work part-time hours within a flexible school schedule.Location:Positions are based in Robstown, Texas, with service areas throughout the Southeast Texas Coast region.
