Job DescriptionLead EstimatorDepartment: EstimatingLeadership Level: 2Your number one responsibilityWe help our customers find their way Home.What you’ll be doingOur Lead Estimator helps support the overall strategy of our Estimating Department. Our Lead Estimator will work closely with the Estimating Manager to ensure short term and long term department goals are met. Our Lead Estimator will be responsible for providing lead direction and an escalation point to support the day-to-day operations of the estimating team. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of new and existing material takeoffs.You will be responsible for…Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Create new plan budgets and maintain current plan budgets. Maintain pricing changes for catalog and manages options within the catalog. Expedite sale agent pricing requests. Complete variance analysis of materials. Manages future Estimators who join the team. Develop budget estimates by performing accurate quantity take offs using plans and specifications, or conceptual information. Review, estimate, and reconcile change orders, often with contractors or a peer review estimator. Help Estimating manager establish and lead the company’s estimations department. Investigate and prepares reports when contractors' bids vary widely from the agreed construction cost estimate. Proactively seeks improvement to methods and procedures to streamline operations for maximum efficiency. Effectively communicate with estimators and professionally address their requests. Mentor and train estimating team to ensure top performance of all team members in achieving desired results while finding efficient and effective solutions that create overall organizational value. Be able to read and understand blueprintsProficient utilizing Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, OutlookWhat Experience You’ll Bring To UsHigh school diploma requiredBachelor's degree preferred Experience in residential construction management preferred4+ years of construction experience required with a homebuilding and/or remodeling company4+ years’ experience as a residential estimator, estimating or cost control requiredKnowledge of CAD, PlanSwift, Hyphen, and Newstar preferredWhat type of work environment you will be working inThis position operates in a professional office environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax. This position must work well in a team oriented, fast paced setting and can handle interruptions while maintaining productivity and accuracy.
