Our clinic provides both facility-based adolescent and young adult services with an emphasis on innovative evidence-based treatment. With a variety of interventional treatment options such as medication management, group therapy, trauma-focused therapy and psychotherapy, our patients will have the ability to realize progress towards their mental health goals. As access to care is at the core of our mission, we are an insurance-based practice with convenient telepsychiatry for young adult services.
What You’ll Do
The Staff Psychiatrist will have a strong desire to work within a multi-disciplinary treatment team at BasePoint Academy and will act as a medical team leader for the coordination and supervision of care provided across medical disciplines, including providing guidance and leadership to the medical team in formulating and implementing the treatment plan. With the support of other non-physician providers, employee will provide psychiatric evaluation and management of adolescent and young adult patients.
You will:
Provide direct intensive patient services to adolescents and young adults at BasePoint Academy including diagnostic admission evaluations, brief psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy, as appropriate.
Works within a multi-disciplinary treatment team and will act as a Medical Team Leader for the coordination and supervision of care provided across clinical disciplines, including providing guidance and leadership to other medical team members in formulating and implementing the treatment plan.
Acts as liaison and communicates effectively with outside providers, primary care physicians, schools and family members as needed.
Adheres to prescribing practices that are safe and evidence based. Obtains appropriate and informed consent for medications prior to prescribing. Conducts intake assessments through interview with clients and families to gather case history.
Monitor risk indicators and take action to address risk management issues in a timely manner to ensure client, staff, and visitor safety, and to safeguard the entity from adverse events. Includes consultation with peers and acting as a resource/consultant to other members of the treatment team.
Participates in Medical Staff meetings as specified in Medical Staff regulations and company policy.
Provide timely and accurate charting of clinical encounters through our Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Monitor and continuously improve patient outcomes in collaboration with the clinic Executive Director.
Participates in mentoring and supervising rotating residents/fellows through teaching institution relationships.
Provides supervision to selected nurse practitioners through collaborative agreement and provides prescriptive authority.

What We’re Looking For:
Required Education:
Graduate of an accredited medical school doctoral program with completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved Residency program in Psychiatry and Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BC) in Child/Adolescent psychiatry.
Preferred Experience: 2+ years of behavioral health experience in an inpatient, outpatient or private practice setting.
Licensure: Current unencumbered MD licensure in the State of Texas and DEA licensure.
