User Experience Designer
Title: UX DesignerDuration: Full time, direct hireLocation: Hybrid in Herndon, VA or fully remoteOverviewOur education client is seeking a full time UX Designer with strong design systems experience to create, maintain, and evolve a scalable design system that supports consistency across products. This role partners closely with product, design, and engineering teams to ensure components, documentation, and accessibility standards are successfully implemented.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and maintain the design system, including reusable UI components, patterns, and guidelines.Create clear documentation for components, usage standards, accessibility requirements, and design tokens.Collaborate with front-end engineers on implementation, QA, and design handoff.Establish governance processes for component contributions, versioning, and updates.Promote design system adoption across teams through training and support.Audit products for consistency and alignment with design standards.Ensure accessibility best practices and WCAG compliance.Manage design system assets within Figma and maintain alignment between design and code.Qualifications3+ years of UX/Product Design experience.1-2+ years focused on design systems.Portfolio demonstrating component design, systems thinking, and documentation.Experience partnering closely with front-end engineering teams.Strong understanding of accessibility standards and responsive design.Proficiency with Figma, component libraries, variables, and design tokens.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Preferred QualificationsWorking knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or React.Experience with design token tools and component-driven development (Storybook).Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).Background supporting large-scale or multi-product environments.Open-source design system experience.Success in This RoleIncreased adoption of the design system across teams.Clear, self-service documentation for designers and engineers.Reduced friction between design and development.A scalable, well-maintained system that evolves with product needs.
