Cloud Engineering Manager

Location: New York City or Chicago (Hybrid) A leading global investment firm is seeking a Cloud Engineering Manager to lead the design, strategy, and operation of its large-scale multi-region AWS infrastructure platform . This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for defining cloud architecture, driving infrastructure standards, and managing a global team of cloud engineers. The environment supports highly demanding workloads used by investment professionals and engineering teams across the firm. The role offers direct collaboration with portfolio managers, researchers, and application engineering teams , helping them leverage public cloud infrastructure efficiently, securely, and at scale. What You'll Do Lead and mentor a global team of Cloud Engineers , driving technical excellence and operational maturity Define and execute the firm's cloud infrastructure strategy , architecture, and governance framework Design scalable, resilient cloud architecture patterns to support critical applications and data platforms Develop developer blueprints and best practices that guide teams in building cost-efficient and reliable cloud-native systems Partner with application engineering teams to accelerate cloud adoption and improve platform capabilities Build self-service infrastructure capabilities that enable teams to provision and manage cloud resources safely and efficiently Contribute to production operations , including participation in on-call rotations and infrastructure maintenance Help establish governance around security, reliability, cost management, and operational standards Core Technology Environment AWS multi-region infrastructure Terraform-based infrastructure provisioning Spacelift for infrastructure deployment and automation What You Bring 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale cloud infrastructure platforms 5+ years leading or managing cloud or infrastructure engineering teams Deep expertise with at least one major public cloud provider (AWS strongly preferred) Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure tooling Experience with enterprise IAM integration and identity governance in cloud environments Familiarity with cloud-native security tools and best practices Knowledge of FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization strategies Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning for cloud infrastructure Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and platform tooling Additional Experience That Helps Experience working with Direct Connect and cloud networking architectures Background supporting mission-critical production environments Experience building developer self-service infrastructure platforms What Makes This Role Unique Opportunity to own and shape cloud strategy at scale Lead the evolution of a high-performance cloud platform used by investment teams globally Work closely with engineering leadership and investment professionals to enable advanced technology capabilities Drive innovation across cloud infrastructure, automation, and developer platforms J-18808-Ljbffr
