This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining all the manufacturing equipment within the production areas. This includes maintaining machinery and equipment in optimum working condition. Additionally, this position provides technical assistance to operators and supervisors on mechanical, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic problems: recommends replacement of equipment: schedules, and performs preventative maintenance. This position is also responsible for understanding related Quality Management Systems including SQF, HACCP, and GMP to ensure safety and quality of employees and products. The job duties include responsibility for assuring food safety and for food quality for Dessert Holdings products.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, repair, and replace electrical components for numerous types of manufacturing equipment, including variable speed motors, VFDS, Micromaster drives, encoders, contractors, relays, and related software programs.Electrical problem-solving with control wiring and board repairs as needed and able to use all electrical measurement devices and mechanic tools.Read and interpret equipment operation and parts manuals, electrical schematics, and can perform computer tasks related to work.Adhere to all safety programs and policiesDay to day troubleshooting, repair and installation of low and high voltage (single, three phase) industrial electromechanical and control systems for utility and production equipmentProvide technical support and plant leadership for equipment troubleshooting and equipment modificationsAbility to install, wire and maintain relays, photo-eyes, limit switches, proximity switches, solenoid valves, motors, starters, VFDs, PLC I/O modules, analog control devices, safety circuits, etc.Perform both uptime and down time preventative maintenance in adherence to the master PM schedulePerform corrective maintenance work ordersWork independently in finding, troubleshooting and repairing problemsBe familiar with PLC s and Control circuitsBe able to identify I/O points on schematics and locate the associated I/O point on the PLC Assist with system startups and operational checkouts on systems including configuration, wiring, calibration, grounding and power testingInterface and communicate with equipment operators and maintenance staff to ascertain problems with equipmentDesign and layout circuits, install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment/componentsWrites procedures, work instructions, and work orders and maintains records of repairsWith QA and Safety and others as appropriate, assists in execution of action plans in relation to health and safety and assures the highest levels of complianceMust be willing to Train new and junior employees within the department.Practices and complies with all Company policies and procedures including safety and work rules, etc.Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures, (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, etc.)Responsible for monitoring and following all food safety and quality proceduresResponsible to follow security protocol and report any suspicious activity and/or security violationsPerforms other duties and special projects as directed by supervisionAbility to understand mechanized equipment as well as the dangers associated with themDisplays appropriate work ethics in the workplace and group settings which provides a positive influenceAble to stay focused in a loud working environmentSupervises assigned personnel and develops subordinates through strong leadership skills and participation in their individual development plansUnderstands the management of Quality Systems and is familiar with SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices which help ensure the safety within the workplace and the production of a safe and quality product(s)Minimum QualificationsBe able to read, interpret, and modify electrical prints and schematics and document all self-created changesComplete understanding of Plant electrical systems, including DC Voltage and AC Voltage 24 V to 480 V and proficiency in electrical installations with conduit and wiring practicesExperience using sensing and control devicesOverall responsibility for ensuring safety of the work place, by seeing that appropriate practices are established in place and enforcedSupport, follow, and support the Lock-Out/Tag-Out programWorking knowledge of PLCs, HVAC systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systemsMinimum RequirementsMust provide own basic tools.
