Job Description Job Description Construction Estimator Department: Construction Reports To: Construction Department Head Location: New Berlin, Wisconsin Position Overview The Construction Estimator plays a critical role in the success of the restoration company by preparing accurate, detailed, and profitable estimates that clearly communicate scope and costs to clients, adjusters, and insurance carriers. This role requires technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to oversee projects from initial inspection through final reconciliation. The Estimator will act as a key representative of the restoration company, ensuring clients receive transparent, timely, and professional service. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Project Scoping Prepare detailed, accurate, and profitable estimates using Xactimate, Symbility, and company-approved platforms. Write clear scopes of work that meet company standards and comply with insurance carrier program requirements. Obtain agreed scopes with adjusters before work commencement and establish draw schedules. Audit estimates for accuracy, profitability, and compliance with internal and external requirements. Prepare supplements when necessary to address additional work or underwritten scopes. Project Management Support Assist Senior Project Managers and First Responders in scope development and project setup. Support production crews when necessary and ensure projects meet OSHA standards and safe work practices. Participate in on-site inspections and client walkthroughs to verify quality and scope adherence. Maintain accurate and timely project documentation, including daily job updates in Chronicle. Ensure invoices are created within 5 days of contract signing and change orders are processed properly. Client & Carrier Relations Build and maintain strong relationships with adjusters, agents, facility managers, and clients. Represent the company at meetings, inspections, and community/industry functions. Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions and concerns within 24 hours. Educate adjusters and clients on estimating processes and scope details. Team Leadership & Compliance Serve as a member of management by enforcing company policies and procedures. Support employee training in estimating, safety, and compliance. Supervise subcontractors, ensuring contracts, pricing, and quality meet company standards. Lead by example by maintaining professionalism, safety awareness, and a positive attitude. Ensure vehicles, equipment, and tools are properly maintained, documented, and utilized. Training & Development Complete Xactimate Level 1-3 training, Actionable Insights modules, Symbility, Matterport, Hover, and IICRC certification. Stay current with insurance program SLAs, estimating guidelines, and restoration technologies. Participate in weekly training and continuous professional development. Performance Standards A Construction Estimator is considered successful when Estimates are accurate, profitable, and timely. All jobs are completed on schedule, within budget, and with minimal punch lists. Client satisfaction is achieved, as documented by signed Statements of Satisfaction. Communication with clients, adjusters, subs, and team members is proactive and documented. Daily and weekly time management, job costing, and production tracking are consistently entered in Chronicle. Maintain effective communication, documentation, and follow-up to prevent account loss. Promote and enforce safety standards, conduct regular safety training, and ensure OSHA compliance. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in restoration or insurance-related work. Strong knowledge of Xactimate, Symbility, Matterport, Hover, and other industry software. Familiarity with IICRC standards and restoration industry best practices. Excellent communication, negotiation, and client service skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to travel as required. Must pass a background and drug screening. Ability to lift to 50 lbs and assist with fieldwork when necessary.
