Heavy Equipment Operator — CivilFlare Construction, LLC | A Quanta Services CompanyAt Flare Construction, we're looking for Heavy Equipment Operators (Levels I–IV) to work on civil construction projects across the western U.S. - from roads, bridges, and grading to substation site development, right-of-way work, and underground utilities. The level of equipment complexity and independence scales with your experience.This is a field-based role on active construction sites across the western U.S. Travel to remote project sites is required and may include extended field assignments. Established in 1976 and now a Quanta Services company, Flare brings the stability and resources of a Fortune 500 enterprise with the culture and agility of a specialized field contractor.What You'll DoEarthwork, grading, and cut/fill operations on civil infrastructure projectsRoad and sitework construction: base prep, subgrade, asphalt, and concrete supportUnderground utilities: storm drain, sanitary sewer, water main, and conduit installationRight-of-way clearing, grubbing, and reclamation workSubstation site development and energy-related civil constructionAll LevelsSafely operate construction equipment on active project sites.Conduct daily pre-shift inspections; fuel, lubricate, and maintain equipment.Follow all company and site-specific safety policies; wear required PPE at all times.Report hazards, malfunctions, and unsafe conditions to the Foreman immediately.Level I - You'll operateLight equipment (skid steers, mini-excavators, backhoes) under direct supervision.Support trenching, grading, and basic excavation tasks.Level II - You'll expand toDozers, graders, and mid-size excavators with growing independence.Mentoring junior operators when assigned.Level III - You'll independently leadComplex excavation, trenching, and grading operations across all equipment types.Plan reading, grade stake interpretation, and on-the-job operator mentoring.Level IV - You'll ownExpert-level operation of all equipment types for complex or large-scale scopes.Crew coordination, operator training, safety briefing leadership, and equipment documentation.What You'll BringLevel IEntry level — some construction or equipment operation experience preferred.OSHA 10-Hour required (or completed within 90 days). Valid driver's license required.Level IIMinimum 2,000 hours of equipment operating experience.OSHA 10-Hour required. Valid driver's license required.Level IIIMinimum 20,000 hours of progressive equipment operating experience.OSHA 30 preferred. CDL Class A or B preferred for equipment transport. SWPPP awareness training a plus.Level IVExtensive multi-project heavy equipment experience with mastery across multiple equipment categories.Demonstrated crew coordination and operator training experience.OSHA 30 preferred. CDL Class A or B preferred.
