Travel RN - Med/Surg

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level IV Trauma teaching hospital in Milwaukee, WI, with experience in post-op and cardiac care required.Job Details• 32-bed Med/Surg unit (IU 4 Center) within a 228-bed Level IV Trauma Center and Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center teaching hospital in Milwaukee, WI,• Patient population includes surgical patients (primarily bariatric, bladder, and orthopedic/total joint), as well as diabetic, cardiac, stroke, renal/hepatic failure, and respiratory patients,• Day shift patient ratio is 1:4-5; night shift ratio is 1:5-7,• Skills required include MSU skillsets, cardiac rhythm interpretation, post-op patient care, wound care, chest tube management, and drip management (cardiac, heparin, and insulin gtts),• Charting and equipment includes Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and centralized telemetry with a tele tech,• 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week,• Every other weekend rotation required,• One holiday coverage required per contract (1 summer, 1 winter),• Floating to other Med/Surg units required; travelers are floated first,• No on-call or call-back requirements,Job Requirements• Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand,• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required,• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required, with most recent experience within the last year,• Experience with post-op patients, cardiac rhythm interpretation, wound care, chest tubes, and IV drip management required,• Epic EMR experience required,• COVID vaccination required,• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration,• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN,Additional Information• Unit support includes a 24/7 receptionist, CNAs (1:6-8 on days, 1:8-10 on nights), a charge nurse with partial assignment, 24/7 phlebotomy for peripheral draws, 24/7 RT and hospitalist coverage, and OT/PT/ST available on weekdays,• Orientation consists of 1 day on the unit,• RTO of up to 2 weeks may be approved per contract,• Any scrub color is acceptable; denim and camouflage are not permitted,• Free parking is available in designated employee areas,
