Reel Tenders serve an important role in newspaper production. They focus on loading large paper rolls into newspaper printing presses and discarding spent rolls. No prior work experience is required, we will train you.This position is scheduled Friday night through Tuesday night 5pm to 1am (+/-).What You Will DoReview all layouts for shift productions to ensure knowledge of product name, printing order, and circulation orderCheck each layout for sizes and weights of paper neededKeep reel room neat and empty trash every shiftCut down all spent cores before the end of each shiftInform lead person of any defective rollsEnsure that reel reports are filled out correctly and completely for each productKeep roll lay-down pad full and make sure paper is removed from warehouse in proper order, oldest to newestHelp on press as needed and assigned by lead personCheck product folios at roll-upWhat You Will BringMust be willing to work nights, weekends and holidaysHigh school diploma or equivalent is requiredMust be able to read, speak and write fluently in English in order to communicate with the production team, read instructions and generate reportsMechanical aptitude is required in order to functionally work with printing press equipmentTroubleshooting skills are required to diagnose problems and implement solutionsTeamwork skills are required in order to work productively with production staff with the shared goal of completing newspaper printing with high quality standards by daily deadlinesBenefits And CompensationThe hourly wage is $15.00 + one time sign on bonus.
