Hyper-V/Virtualization Infrastructure Engineer | Austin, TX (Hybrid)I'm working with a national leader in utility-scale energy storage on a search for an Infrastructure Engineer to join their Site Operations team in Austin, TX. My client develops, constructs, and operates energy storage assets across wholesale electricity markets, backed by a major global infrastructure investor, with a large and growing portfolio of operating and in-construction projects and a multi-gigawatt development pipeline.This is a great opportunity for someone with strong Hyper-V, Windows Server/Linux, and enterprise storage experience who wants to work at the intersection of IT and critical energy infrastructure.What you'll be doing:Designing, deploying, and managing Hyper-V virtualization environments (standalone and clustered) — VMs, virtual networks, live migration, HA configsAdministering Windows Server (2016/2019/2022/2025) and major Linux distros (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS/Rocky) — patching, hardening, performance tuningManaging enterprise storage (SAN/NAS/hyperconverged) — provisioning, capacity planning, replication, snapshots, data protectionBuilding and maintaining backup, DR, and business continuity solutionsMonitoring infrastructure via System Center, Windows Admin Center, Prometheus/Grafana, or similarAutomating tasks with PowerShell, Bash, or AnsiblePartnering with application, security, and networking teams on deployments and migrationsJoining an on-call rotation for critical incident responseDocumenting architecture and contributing to infrastructure standardsWhat my client is looking for:Background in Operational Technology (OT)Familiarity with NERC CIP and other regulatory frameworks5+ years in infrastructure engineering or systems administrationStrong Hyper-V expertise (Failover Clustering; SCVMM a plus)Solid Windows Server + at least one major Linux distro in productionEnterprise storage experience (Dell EMC, Dell Unity, NetApp, Pure Storage, HPE, or similar), including SAN/NAS, multipathing, performance tuningVirtualization networking (vSwitch, SR-IOV, VLANs) and storage connectivity (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, SMB/NFS)PowerShell and/or Bash scripting proficiencyUnderstanding of HA, DR, and backup strategies in virtualized environments
