Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Stroke Prevention Neurology Specialist to join our skilled nursing and long-term care (LTC) team. Duties
Conduct thorough neurological assessments to identify stroke risk factors and develop individualized prevention plans.
Coordinate with physicians, therapists, and nursing staff to implement evidence-based interventions for stroke risk reduction.
Manage medication administration related to stroke prevention, including anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents, ensuring proper dosing and monitoring.
Educate patients and families about lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and warning signs of stroke to promote proactive health management.
Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of assessments, care plans, and progress notes.
Participate in clinical research initiatives focused on neurology and stroke prevention to stay current with emerging best practices.
Assist with telehealth consultations, triage calls, and follow-up care coordination to ensure continuous patient support.
Skills
Strong knowledge of neurology principles, physiology, and anatomy related to stroke pathophysiology.
Experience with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation and patient management.
Proficiency in administering injections, IV infusions, catheterization procedures, and sterile techniques.
Familiarity with botulinum toxin treatment options for neurological conditions such as spasticity or dystonia.
Critical care experience in hospital or ICU settings with exposure to Level I/II trauma centers preferred.
Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10), and utilization review processes for accurate billing and compliance.
Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, pediatric cases such as neonatal or toddler care, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
Skills in patient education related to lifestyle modifications for stroke prevention such as nutrition counseling and smoking cessation strategies.
