Electrical Engineer – Industrial & Power GenerationLocation: St. Louis, MO or Columbus, OHWork Model: Hybrid / Onsite (project-dependent)Compensation: $115,000-150,000*we are unable to provide sponsorship at this time*A leader in Utilities & Energy projects is partnering with Brooksource to hire an Electrical Engineer to support industrial and fossil power generation projects within gas and heavy industrial environments. This role supports complex industrial facilities and power infrastructure projects, offering exposure to both local project teams and larger national engineering groups.This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong industrial electrical experience who enjoys plant-level system design and hands-on involvement across the full project lifecycle—from early concept through construction support.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform electrical design for industrial and power generation facilitiesSupport projects within gas and heavy industrial (GHI) environmentsDesign and develop electrical systems and equipment, including: Cable tray layouts, Switchgear, Motor Control Centers (MCCs)Execute electrical design from conceptual phase through final designCreate, modify, and review schematics, wiring diagrams, and production drawingsPerform engineering calculations and system studies to support plant-level designsCollaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teamsApply industry standards, electrical codes, and best practicesCompile technical documentation for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administrationPerform field inspections, site walks, and construction-phase engineering supportAct as a field engineer during construction as neededSupport both new construction and retrofit projectsEngineered Systems & EquipmentPlant-level electrical power distribution systemsBulk power grid interconnectionsPower transformers and generator circuit breakersSwitchgear and MCCsBus duct systems (isolated and non-segregated)Motors, motor controls, and VFDsStation batteries and UPS systemsRenewable and conventional power generation equipment as applicableRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) with 3–7 years of relevant experienceORBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited) with FE exam completed and applicable experienceORMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineering with applicable experienceIndustrial electrical engineering experience is requiredFamiliarity with plant-level electrical systemsStrong understanding of electrical engineering principles, standards, and codesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesProficiency with engineering and design tools, including: AutoCAD, MicroStation, Microsoft Office, 2D and 3D design or modeling toolsPreferred Skills:Experience with ETAP, SKM, or EasyPowerProtection and relay coordination experienceShort circuit and arc flash studiesAbility to develop and interpret schematics and wiring diagramsConsulting or EPC project experienceCertificationsEngineer in Training (EIT) preferredProfessional Engineer (PE) license encouraged
