Learn more about us at https://llac.org/How You Will Make An ImpactThe Content Editor will write and edit documents, reports, instructional workbooks, and other work products to ensure that all such materials are accurate, clear, and concise; written in plain language in accordance with manuscript writing style guidelines; free of typographical, grammatical, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and other errors; and aesthetically-pleasing.RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: This list is illustrative only and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of tasks performed by this classification. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.Read copy or proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax under a deadlineChecking text to ensure it is well written, logically structured and in the right style for the intended audienceVerify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sourcesPerforms a variety of editorial duties including lay outs, indexing, and revising content of written materials in preparation for final publicationUtilizes Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or In Design to create graphics for curriculumAssists with the implementation of established procedure; coordinates the assignment and completion of various editing phasesRevises and edits existing and new coursesPrepares documents for final printing and productionAssists in completion of special, ongoing and long-term projectsProvides organizational and clerical support as needed for the departmentAdhere to attendance policiesAdministrative duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed from time to timeSpecific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, EtcThe ability to work to tight deadlinesThorough knowledge of English language (or the language the publication is written in)Excellent oral and written communication skillsStrong organization and scheduling skillsAbility to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationship with a variety of professionalsProblem solving, collaborative decision-making and conflict resolution skillsStrong work ethic to achieve both Organization and personal goalsModel professional and ethical standardsAbility to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervisionMinimum QualificationsBachelor Degree in English, Communication, or related fieldStrong computer proficiency in MS OfficeExperience with production software such as Adobe In Design, Photoshop, and Illustrator preferredProficient in technology software applications for data collection and analysisMinimum 1 year experience in document production and/or editing. Related training or experience preferredTRAVEL: Ability to travel in performance of job duties is requiredPhysical RequirementsMental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordinationFinger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers togetherTalking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quicklyAverage Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary informationAverage Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machineryPhysical Strength: sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, and occasionally exerts up to 10 lbs. of force (almost all office jobs)Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work requiredWorking in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures
