Creative Educator and Marketing Assistant

Looking for an unusual creative opportunity? Are you a creative individual who likes making things? We are seeking a highly creative, hands-on craftsperson who loves working with children and can design projects using cardboard, paper, and simple mechanical systems. This role blends creative invention, basic engineering, CAD skills, simple electronics and youth facilitation. The ideal candidate can rapidly prototype, refine ideas through testing, and translate mechanical concepts into projects for children. We are looking for someone who can invent and iterate projects that incorporate motion, mechanical action and some simple electronics.Dazzling Discoveries/ Skill Mill NYC is a hands-on STEM education program in New York City. Our focus is science, engineering, technology and math (STEM). We have our own makerspace and classroom facility where we run science, engineering, crafts, electronics, 3D printing, laser cutting & CAD classes and camps. We run after school classes, in-school programs, camp days and events at our own locations and at schools throughout Manhattan.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and prototype projects using cardboard, paper, and low-cost materials. Knowledge of basic electronics a plusLead engaging workshops for children (elementary through middle school)Break down mechanical concepts into developmentally appropriate lessonsDocument projects for internal curriculum useAssist with general administrative tasksQualifications:Experience designing kinetic or mechanical cardboard constructionsStrong hands-on building and prototyping skillsExperience working with childrenUnderstanding of basic mechanical principlesClear communication skillsOrganized, patient, and adaptableBackground in art education, industrial design, engineering, architecture, theater props, maker education or any related fieldPart time or full time: Salary range: $45,000-$65,000 (or equivalent) based on experience.Send resume and cover letter to: Jobs@skillmillnyc.com
