Store Host Location: Washington DC - Georgetown Pay Rate: $19 to $22 per hour Schedule: Part time up to 29 hours per week Employment Status: Nonexempt hourly Position SummaryCrumbs and Whiskers is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Store Hosts to help create an exceptional experience for our guests and our adoptable cats. Our Hosts ensure the café runs smoothly so guests can relax, connect, and hopefully form lasting bonds with the cats in our care. As a Store Host you are the face of the café. You will welcome guests, guide them through their visit, share each cat’s unique story and help maintain a clean, safe and joyful environment for both humans and animals. Qualifications Passion for animal welfare and customer experience Friendly engaging and confident communication skills Ability to multitask and stay calm in a fast paced environment Comfortable working closely with cats and the general public Reliable punctual and team oriented Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light cleaning and lifting duties Prior customer service or hospitality experience preferred but not required Key Responsibilities Greet and check in guests ensuring a warm and welcoming experience Introduce guests to the cats and share information about their personalities histories and adoption process Cultivate a store environment that is either (1) playful and active or (2) cuddly and relaxing by ensuring guests are being engaged appropriately with cats to create the desired store environment. At all times, ensure that every guest, no matter their previous experience with cats, is able to meaningfully and personally engage with and learn about cats. Educate guests about the C&W social mission and brand. Encourage guests to sign up for the newsletter. Monitor cat interactions to ensure safety comfort and positive experiences for all Provide daily care for cats including feeding cleaning and general well being support Assist with drink runs and light café service as needed Maintain a clean organized and inviting café environment throughout each shift Follow all health safety and animal care protocols Support team members and contribute to a positive collaborative workplace Crumbs and Whiskers is an equal opportunity employer.
