Lab Technician

Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe primary function of this role is to perform technical laboratory activities related to testing human specimens and accurately record laboratory data. All work is conducted under the technical oversight of a California-licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Recent chemistry grads are encouraged to apply!Essential Job DutiesAssist in specimen testing under direct and constant supervision, following established procedures and working under the technical oversight of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, in compliance with California regulatory requirements. Utilize automated and/or digital devices (e.g., timers, thermometers) to perform tasks.Record dates of receipt, in-use status, and expiration for all reagents, kits, controls, and standards used for assigned assays. Ensure that all materials are within expiration dates prior to use.Perform pipetting using pre-set, calibrated, and approved automatic devices or fixed-volume dispensers.Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment under direct supervision. Document all PM activities appropriately, perform minor repairs, and promptly notify appropriate personnel for issues requiring more complex repairs.Develop an increasing understanding of laboratory medicine and the clinical significance of laboratory results.Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety requirements established by Esoterix, CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory bodies.Document all activities as required, following good documentation practices. Examples include preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.Follow all additional job-related instructions and perform other duties as assigned by department management.Required Education / DegreeBachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related scientific field from an accredited institution. The degree must include a minimum of 12 semester hours of chemistry, preferably including at least one course in organic chemistry.Additional Skills & Qualifications4/10 schedule, 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 1:00 AM), Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and SaturdayJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Agoura Hills, CA.Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.40/hr.RequirementsEligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
