Composites Manufacturing Engineer

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.What you'll do:Develop and validate the manufacturing processes and workflow for composite partsAssist in the design for tooling and fixtures required for manufacturing aerospace componentsGenerate manufacturing bill of materials as required for the programReview drawings and 3D models to ensure they meet design intentCoordinate with external suppliers to ensure deliverables are met on scheduleTroubleshoot manufacturing issues that arise during development and lead root cause corrective actionsCreate process plans and work instructions for each component or system, ensuring the product is in compliance with standard aerospace quality standardsSupport manufacturing production planning and coordination, capacity planning, line design, production execution, and operations process developmentDisposition non-conforming parts, identify root cause, and implement corrective and/or preventive actions to reduce scrap and reworkPerform continuous improvement to improve yield and reduce production costsPerform design reviews and provide technical input related to dynamic systems, assisting in the selection of manufacturing methods, materials, and quality and inspection requirementsEstablish and enforce best practices for critical aerospace componentsWhat you'll need:Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field5+ years of experience in manufacturing critical composite aerospace componentsUnderstanding of common methods used for composite part manufactureAbility to read engineering drawings and interpret CAD modelsCAD design experience (NX preferred)Knowledge of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP)Understanding of non-destructive inspection methodsStrong technical, written, and verbal communication skillsBonus:Masters in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field12+ years of experience manufacturing rotor or propeller bladesHands-on involvement in manufacturing and repairs of rotor or propeller bladesPrior involvement in FAA or military rotorcraft certification efforts for rotorcraft (FAA Part 27 and 29)Proficiency in Python and/or Matlab scriptingThis position will require travel up to 10% to Archer facilities or supplier facilities.Archer is committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodations to job applicants with physical or mental disabilities, and those with sincerely held religious beliefs.
