Associate Attorney

Desmond, Rand & Guerard, P.A. is seeking a motivated, resourceful, and entrepreneurial Associate Attorney to join our transactional practice. This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly and closely with the firm's president and his clients on a wide range of corporate and real estate matters, with meaningful responsibility and client exposure from day one.Position Overview:This is an in office position based in either our Westbrook or Wells office. The Associate will work side by side with the firm's president, gaining hands on experience in active client matters and participating directly in strategy, drafting, and execution. This is not a back office role. The Associate will be integrated into client relationships early and expected to develop practical judgment and confidence quickly.The ideal candidate will have one to two years of experience; however, we are willing to train the right individual who demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and a strong desire to grow within the firm.We are looking for someone who brings an entrepreneurial mindset, is creative and aggressive in problem solving, and is comfortable working across multiple practice areas to meet client needs.Practice Areas Include:Corporate and business transactionsReal estate transactions and closingsGeneral counsel services for business clientsThis role will also provide cross exposure to trusts and estates matters, as well as select litigation support, offering a well rounded experience and deeper understanding of how transactional work intersects with disputes and long term planning.Responsibilities:Work directly with the firm's president on active client mattersDraft, review, and negotiate contracts and transactional documentsAssist with entity formation, structuring, and governanceSupport real estate transactions, including title and closing workCollaborate with attorneys across practice groups, including trusts and estates and litigationManage files proactively and meet deadlines in a fast paced environmentQualifications:Licensed to practice law in Maine or ability to obtain licensure promptlyOne to two years of relevant experience preferred, but not requiredStrong writing, analytical, and communication skillsEntrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to take ownership and contribute to practice developmentAbility to think critically and solve problems creativelyCompensation & Benefits:Compensation commensurate with experience401(k) with employer matchEmployer paid life insuranceShort term disability coveragePlease note that health insurance is not currently offered but is an employer provided health care plan is a part of the Firm's short to medium term growth strategy.About the Firm:Desmond, Rand & Guerard, P.A. is a well established Southern Maine law firm with offices in Westbrook and Wells.
