Gunsmith - Armorer Services Technician (Experienced)
Location: Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Glynco, GAReports To: Program ManagerOverview: We are seeking a skilled Gunsmith Armorer Services Technician to support the Client's firearms maintenance program. The successful candidate will perform comprehensive maintenance and repair services on the Client's firearms inventory, ensuring full compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards and applicable policies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership and ethics, serving as a model of honesty and reliability in their work and interactions.Security Requirements:• Must pass a Tier 2 (T2) background investigation for moderate Public Trust positions.• Must comply with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) standards for identity proofing and credentialing.Key Responsibilities:• Perform maintenance, inspection, cleaning, and repair of firearms in accordance with OEM standards, demonstrating integrity and precision in all actions.• Manage firearms and ammunition inventory with strict accountability, ensuring compliance with agency policies and maintaining accurate records to uphold trust and transparency.• Oversee operations and security of armory facilities, including weapons vaults, ARMAG, andstorage locations, with a commitment to safeguarding assets and maintaining order.• Maintain detailed maintenance logs for weapons and associated equipment, ensuringaccuracy and reliability.• Research and recommend procurement of firearms, ammunition, and related equipment,emphasizing ethical decision-making and cost-effective solutions.• Provide accountability for weapons and ammunition, supporting agency-wide firearmsprograms with professionalism and diligence.• Coordinate shipping and factory repairs for firearms, optics, and related accessories,ensuring timely and secure handling.• Assisting in the delivery of operator-level weapons maintenance training, including lessonplan development and classroom instruction, fostering knowledge and skill developmentamong personnel.• Support the maintenance schedule and upkeep of less-than-lethal weapons, providingtraining and ensuring proper use in alignment with agency policies.• Prepare reports and provide updates on firearms programs, inventory, and procurement,demonstrating clarity, honesty, and thoroughness in communication.• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, conduct visitor safety briefings, and maintainappropriate signage, upholding a culture of safety and respect.• Attend relevant training and conferences as required, actively contributing to personal andprofessional growth.• Collaborate with team members, agencies, and vendors to ensure operational efficiency,demonstrating leadership and teamwork.• Adapt to dynamic schedules, including range activities outside standard business hours,with reliability and a positive attitude.• Utilize computer applications for inventory management and reporting with proficiency andattention to detail.• Execute collateral projects and provide professional support to enhance unit readiness,displaying initiative and leadership qualities.• Serve as a role model by upholding high ethical standards, fostering trust and respect ininteractions with personnel, partners, and stakeholders.• Lead by example, promoting accountability, professionalism, and the importance ofmaintaining a position of trust in all activities.Qualifications:• U.S. citizen;• Valid driver's license;• Completion of the military, law enforcement, or equivalent civilian Gunsmith school and minimum five (5) years of experience, or equivalent, minimum ten (5) years of on-the-job experience; and• Experience servicing weapons such as Glock 17, 22, Colt-style carbine) Staccato Model P 2011 and the STI 2011, Remington shotguns, and a variety of AR-platform rifles.• Excellent physical condition to include walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and carrying loads.• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing requirements.• Experience with maintaining accurate records and inventory management systems.Preferred Qualifications:• Certifications in gunsmithing or a related technical field (e.g., from the American Gunsmithing Institute or equivalent).• Experience in training law enforcement personnel on firearms maintenance and safety.• Previous experience working in a federal agency or government contract environment.Work Environment: Flexible work hours, including the possibility of after-hours and weekend support, as required by the Client.Travel: Occasional travel may be required based on project needs.Sponsorship: Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
