Special Education Resource Teacher

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Resource Teacher to join our team at O'Leary Middle School. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs and creating an inclusive educational environment. This full-time position involves collaborating with educators, parents, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote academic and social success for students with disabilities. Responsibilities - Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. - Provide direct instruction and support to students in various settings, including one-on-one, small group, and co-teaching inclusive classroom environments. - Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. - Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instructional methods as necessary. - Maintain accurate records of student performance, progress, and behavior in accordance with school policies and state regulations. - Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and educational needs. - Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education. - Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and engagement among all students. - Advocate for the needs and rights of students with disabilities within the school community. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred. - Valid state teaching certification in Special Education. - Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is preferred. - Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices. - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. - Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff. - Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning. - Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with trends in special education.
