Component Development Technician

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: · Support instrumentation and testing of Electric Power generator sets. · Read build books and test plans, coordinate material and equipment availability, set up gauges / equipment, support test execution, collect data, communicate results, and tear down equipment. · Test troubleshooting to ensure accurate data collection / innovation to develop custom test configurations. · Manage and maintain material as well as equipment and calibration status. · Collaborate with facility technicians and engineering to support unit assembly, preparation of test unit and test cell, resolution of problems with assembly, test, and product. · Certain tests will require troubleshooting to ensure accurate data collection and innovation to develop custom test configurations. · Manage and maintain material as well as equipment and calibration status. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: · High school diploma/GED with 8+ years’ technical experience OR · Associate’s degree in electronics technology, diesel power, or a related field with 2-4 years’ experience OR · Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology. REQUIRED SKILLS: · Previous experience working in a lab / testing environment. · Working knowledge of safe work and test practices. · Working knowledge of test equipment like multimeters, soldering/harnessing, strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, proximity probes, telemetry, DAQ systems, hand tools. · Working knowledge of relevant computer applications like Microsoft Office and test measurement software. · Ability to practically apply engineering science and technology. · Strong electrical and mechanical background. · Operational knowledge of engines and/or generator set assembly, operation, and testing. · Operational knowledge of electrical components like alternators, Circuit Breakers, CTs, load banks, and transformers. · Eager to learn and develop testing skillset. DESIRED SKILLS: · Strong electrical and mechanical background. · Operational knowledge of engines and/or generator set assembly, operation, and testing. SOFT SKILLS REQUIRED: · Detail oriented and analytical skills. · Capable of working through issues and solving problems. · Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills. · Proven experience working on a team. · Capable of working independently and with others.
