The program supports members by facilitating pharmacy service access and ensuring quality, cost-effective care.2. About the Opportunity:The Pharmacy Technician Prior Auth role is responsible for reviewing and processing prior authorization requests for medications. This position contributes to the efficient management of pharmacy services by ensuring requests meet established criteria and supporting pharmacy strategies aimed at improving medication-related outcomes. The role plays a crucial part in maintaining effective communication between providers, members, and internal teams to facilitate timely and accurate authorization decisions.3. Responsibilities:• Review initial non-formulary or prior authorization requests against pharmacy plan criteria• Request additional information from providers as needed for proper evaluation• Accurately enter approvals or denials of requests• Facilitate prior authorization requests within established policies and procedures• Participate in developing pharmacy programs to enhance drug utilization and cost-saving practices• Report operational issues and resource needs to leadership• Assist member services, pharmacies, and providers in resolving prescription claims, prior authorizations, and access issues• Communicate pharmacy management policies and procedures to relevant stakeholders4. Requirements:• Minimum of 2 years pharmacy technician experience or equivalent education and experience• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and/or active, unrestricted state pharmacy technician license as required• Ability to comply with organizational policies and HIPAA confidentiality requirements• Strong attendance to support quality and productivity standards• Effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive work relationships• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and relevant software5.
