JOB SUMMARY
The Health Service Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for agency health services, including nursing operations, collaborative initiatives, and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. The role oversees nursing staff and the Agency Peer Program, ensuring high-quality service delivery and adherence to performance standards.
In partnership with the Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), the Supervisor serves as a liaison between the agency and physical health providers, including primary care, hospitals, FQHCs, and RHCs, to support integrated health initiatives. The position also assists the CCO and COO in developing and maintaining cooperative arrangements that promote coordinated care across the service continuum.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Program Oversight
Provide leadership, supervision, and support to nursing staff.
Provide oversight and growth support for the Agency Peer Program and its supervisor.
Collaborate with the CCO to implement new projects and initiatives.
Develop program capacity and guide staff to meet service delivery goals.
Implement new requirements from funding sources or agency policy.
Manage psychiatric and nursing services to ensure timely access to care through capacity monitoring.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure proper implementation of agency policies and procedures through training, monitoring, and corrective actions.
Maintain documentation standards in alignment with all funding and regulatory requirements.
Promote accessible, effective services that reflect consumer needs and produce measurable outcomes.
Prepare required documentation for audits, CARF accreditation, and other state and federal reviews.
Coordination & Representation
Represent the agency on community, regional, and state committees as assigned.
Develop program outcomes consistent with agency and contractual obligations and prepare related reports.
Maintain professional relationships with community partners and service agencies.
Support integrated health initiatives in collaboration with the COO.
Fiscal & Operational Responsibilities
Manage programs within established budget parameters.
Review and monitor staff utilization to ensure cost-effective operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and support professional development for nursing staff.
Supervise and support the Peer Support Service Supervisor.
Ensure staff receive required training, orientation, and ongoing support.
Carry out supervisory duties in compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Master’s degree in a Health or Human Services field (a non‑related master’s degree may substitute with relevant experience), OR
Licensed Registered Nurse in Michigan with QMHP status.
Minimum five years of experience in mental health services, preferably in similar program areas.
Minimum one year of supervisory experience in mental health services.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong program management skills.
Knowledge of eligibility standards, service programs, entitlement programs, and community resources.
Understanding of federal, state, and local contracts and regulations governing health services.
Knowledge of grievance and appeals processes.
Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to respond to complaints with empathy and route concerns appropriately.
Strong organizational, analytical, and decision‑making abilities.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
Must maintain all required trainings and certifications.
Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, speak, and hear for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to use close, distance, peripheral, and color vision, with depth perception.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with flexibility for after‑hours and weekend needs.
Travel between offices and off‑site locations as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office setting with moderate noise levels.
Frequent use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, copiers).
