Electrician
Electrician This is skilled work at the journeyman level in the installation, alternation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. Employees in this class are responsible for performing skilled electrical tasks by standard practices of the trade. Work involves installing, maintaining, and repairing cafeteria equipment, electrical systems and controls, and various electrical installations. Work assignments are received orally or in writing and may be accompanied by illustrative sketches, diagrams, or blueprints. Assembles, installs, and tests electrical fixtures, apparatus, control equipment, and wiring used in lighting, power, and other electrical installations throughout the school system Installs, maintains, and repairs electrically operated cafeteria equipment such as refrigerators, dishwashers, mixers, and ovens; installs, maintains and repairs stage lighting systems and provides technical assistance in the operation of such installations Installs, maintains and repairs a variety of classroom and office lighting, clock, and bell systems Installs, maintains and repairs electrical controls on boilers, furnaces, and electrical motors Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment. Performs related work as required Must maintain a valid driver's license Installs, maintains and repairs electrical controls on boilers, furnaces, and electrical motor Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment. Performs related work as required Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and equipment of the electrical trade Knowledge of national and local electrical codes Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of electrical trade Ability to locate, diagnose, and adjust defects in electrical systems and equipment Ability to work from sketches, diagrams, and blueprints Ability to observe safety precautions in carrying out assigned tasks Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions Skill in the use of the standard tools, machines, and equipment of the electrical trade Minimum of six years of experience as a journeyman electrician Graduation from a general or technical high school State of Missouri industrial electrician's license Union (preferred) Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment Occasional outside work may be required on an as-needed basis Very limited or no exposure to physical risk The information in this job description is for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position.
