Direct Support ProfessionalWe are seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join a residential non-profit program in Presque Isle. This is an excellent full-time opportunity for a compassionate, dependable individual who enjoys working alongside adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Prior experience is helpful but not required. Qualified candidates will receive paid, on-the-job training and certification assistance. This position requires a valid driver's license and a good driving record.The Direct Support Professional will assist residents with personal care, skill-building, and community activities to help them live full and independent lives. This role focuses on creating a safe, supportive environment where individuals can grow, develop essential life skills, and pursue personal goals. Employees will have the opportunity to train and earn required certifications while working in a rewarding role that makes a meaningful impact on residents and the local community.ResponsibilitiesProvide daily supervision, support, and training to help individuals meet goals related to daily living, social development, employment skills, safety, and independence.Assist with personal hygiene, toileting, daily living tasks, and self-care needs.Support individuals with challenging behaviors using approved de-escalation methods.Transport individuals to community activities, appointments, and work programs.Provide supervision and encouragement during activities to ensure safety and engagement.Maintain a safe and supportive environment at all times.Safely use wheelchairs, lifts, and assistive devices according to training guidelines.Administer medications (after completing required training) and document accurately.Assist with basic housekeeping tasks, including cleaning, trash removal, and surface sanitization.Remove snow and ice from walkways or vehicles when needed.Complete timely and accurate documentation of daily activities, goals, and progress.Report concerns, unusual incidents, or needed updates to supervisors promptly.Attend all required trainings and maintain necessary certifications.Job RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED required. Valid Maine driver's license with a good driving record. Ability to lift 2550 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally (with assistance). Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow individualized support plans. Willingness to assist with personal care and hygiene needs. Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emotional or physical emergencies. Ability to complete required trainings and certifications (CPR, SafetyCare, DSP Certification, and CRMA) within 36 months. Background check required. TEMPO Employment Services is an EEO/AA Employer.
