Project Engineer (EI or PE) – Civil/Land Development

Job Title: Project Engineer (EI or PE) – Civil/Land Development Location: Central Florida (In-Person) Pay Range: $70,000 - $95,000 (based on experience) About Us: Founded in 2009, Rayl Engineering & Surveying, LLC is a Polk County–based civil engineering and land surveying firm serving private developers and local municipalities across Central Florida. Responsibilities Working with and under the supervision of a Senior Professional Engineer, you will: Produce complete civil site design plans, including grading, utilities, stormwater systems, and roadway layouts. Prepare engineering calculations for stormwater modeling, utility design, earthwork, drainage, water/wastewater, and erosion control. Develop and manage permitting packages for local governments and regulatory agencies. Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, surveyors, and agency reviewers. Assist with cost estimating, construction support, and responding to review comments. Contribute to project scheduling, task management, and quality control. Support strong client relationships through reliable, accurate project execution. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. EI certification required; PE preferred but not required. 2–5 years of civil land development engineering experience. Working knowledge in AutoCAD Civil 3D for site design. Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Experience with stormwater modeling tools (ICPR/Stormwise, BMPTrains, and WaterCAD). Working knowledge of Florida’s permitting processes and design standards. Preferred Qualifications Experience preparing full land development plan sets. Strong technical writing ability (reports, calculations, narratives). Experience coordinating with reviewing agencies. Other relevant technical certifications (CFM, SQuInT, etc.) What We’re Looking For Someone who can take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
