Manager, Local Media Strategic Planning

MLB is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager, Local Media Strategic Planning to join our Strategic Planning team supporting the Local RSN business. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for executing and optimizing local media campaigns while partnering closely with the MLB Local Sponsorship team to deliver effective advertising solutions. You will collaborate with sales, MLB Club contacts, internal stakeholders, and agencies to manage media proposals, guide strategy, and ensure operational excellence. Your leadership, industry expertise, and analytical insight will directly contribute to the success and growth of MLB’s local media advertising business.ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day execution of local media campaigns to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with client objectives and revenue goalsServe as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, including Sales Operations, Traffic, Strategic Planning, MLB Club contacts, and external partnersProvide strategic guidance on media proposals, campaign pacing, optimizations, and post-campaign analysisAnalyze media performance and revenue data to inform sales negotiations, pricing strategies, and long-term planningDevelop and implement strategies to grow local media revenue through targeted sales efforts, cross-platform monetization, and upselling opportunitiesEnsure consistent processes, documentation, and best practices across the coordinator team; identify opportunities to improve workflows and operational efficiencyMentor, train, and evaluate coordinators, providing feedback, coaching, and professional development supportStay current on industry trends, emerging media platforms, and new tools, and translate insights into actionable recommendations for the team and leadershipQualifications & SkillsStrong leadership, communication, and people-management skillsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and media planning/monitoring toolsStrong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into insights and strategic recommendationsDeep understanding of digital marketing platforms and media ecosystemsSolid knowledge of MLB local media best practices and sponsorship modelsHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholdersStrong relationship-building skills with internal teams, media partners, and clients4–6 years of experience in media sales, advertising, strategic planning, or a related fieldPrior experience managing or mentoring junior team membersUndergraduate degree requiredExperience working in a professional sports and/or media environmentProven collaborator with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilitiesExperience driving revenue growth through media strategy and optimizationAbility to balance strategic thinking with hands-on executionSalary Range: $75,000-$100,000 (Base Salary)As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
