Assistant Controller – Consumer Goods Company | Near Bridgeport, ChicagoA growing consumer goods organization near Bridgeport is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join its leadership accounting team. This is a highly visible role offering strong exposure to executive leadership, technical accounting, consolidations, systems, and process improvement initiatives.Compensation: $180,000–$210,000 + bonus + strong benefits packageKey ResponsibilitiesLead and support core controllership functions including month-end close, consolidations, financial reporting, and record-to-report processesPartner directly with external auditors and support annual audit activitiesAssist with SEC reporting, SOX compliance, GAAP research, and internal controls initiativesOversee areas including AP, cash management, budgeting support, and financial operationsServe as a key ERP and systems resource, helping drive process improvements and business-side system enhancementsSupport large-scale financial consolidations and reporting across multiple entities/business unitsPartner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership teams to improve reporting accuracy and efficiencyQualifications10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience3–5+ years of public accounting experience required; Big 4 strongly preferred, will also consider strong mid-tier public accounting backgroundsStrong technical accounting foundation including SEC reporting, SOX, GAAP, audit support, and controllership responsibilitiesExperience working within large ERP environments such as SAP or OracleManufacturing or consumer products experience highly preferredCPA preferredThis is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a strategic accounting leadership role within a stable and growing organization.Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO
