Provide expert, compassionate nursing care focused on diabetes education within a clinical setting. This contract nursing role offers the opportunity to support patients and families managing diabetes mellitus by working alongside a multidisciplinary diabetes management team. Flexibility is required as the position may include variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call hours, with occasional floating to various units according to clinical competency and facility needs.Key Responsibilities:Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing protocols, policies, and state laws.Document patient information and care activities accurately, adhering to standards of care.Develop, initiate, and implement individualized patient plans of care, including education for patients and families.Participate in department performance improvement and shared governance initiatives.Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units supporting patient care plans.Apply critical thinking to promote patient safety and experience, escalating issues as needed.Serve as a resource for patient education materials and programs, advocating holistically for patients' clinical and psychosocial needs.Maintain professional development and participate in the nursing continuum.Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.Current RN license in Illinois and Wisconsin.CPR certification (approved) required within 90 days.Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) required.Demonstrated ability to provide culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care.Strong critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.Location: Belvidere, IL is a welcoming community known for its friendly neighborhoods and rich history.
