A&M's GTI team helps identify overlooked opportunity areas across a range of industries where qualified credit activities exist and provides the tools needed to complete the complicated credit calculation. Our team of professionals assists clients in preparing and preserving the documentation required to support qualifying activities and departments. We are presently seeking a Director to join our national practice.How you will contributeAs a Director within GTI, you will:Work with multi-disciplinary teams to conduct research and development (R&D) tax credit consulting services, including leading interviews with client subject matter experts, writing technical memorandum, performing tax technical research, and developing quantitative workpapers supporting amounts claimedAssistance on federal tax consulting services, including meals and entertainment, accounting method assessments, energy incentives, and meals and entertainment deductionsCommunicate directly with client personnel, including operations, finance, accounting, and engineeringManage and implement multiple projects simultaneously, which include client interviews, computations, analysis, data gathering and coordination of A&M and client resourcesAssist with tax research, responses to IRS inquiries, drafting IRS protest letters, and writing other technical memoranda as needed.Flexibility to travel to client sites 25% of the timeManage risk, resources, staffing and financial performance for multiple engagements at once including billing, collections and project budgetsIdentify key tax issues and accurately quantify the impact to in a clear, concise, and thoughtful analysisBuild client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businessesConduct day-to-day management of accounts to ensure delivery of timely and accurate work productSupervise, develop, mentor, and motivate our Associates, Senior Associates and Managers by actively participating in their advancement through on-the-job training, providing performance feedback, counseling, and fostering our team-based atmosphereManage workload and deadlines for Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers with a focus on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the project teamsDemonstrate commitment and desired behaviors while working with others that have diverse experiences, skills and perspectivesRegularly supports business development efforts including seeing opportunities for add on work, thought leadership, new client pitches, and optimizing the compliance processQualifications:4-6+ years of experience working on Research and Development Tax Credit engagementsBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a STEM disciplineAdvanced Degree preferred: MA/MS, JD or LLMCPA or Licensed Attorney, or applicable certification requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate complex information and to establish credibility and influence clientsExcellent research, writing, and analytical skillsAdvanced user of all Microsoft Office products (with an emphasis on Excel and high proficiency in spreadsheets)Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlinesHigh motivation to learn and grow and actively identify trends and new ideas for enhancing solutions and approachesDetail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills to excel in a deadline-driven environmentPrior proven experience leading others while managing multiple work streamsDemonstrated success as a trusted tax and business advisor: building relationships, identifying and addressing client needs, and delivering high quality deliverablesPassion for training and mentoring staffYour journey at A&MWe recognize that our people are the driving force behind our success, which is why we prioritize an employee experience that fosters each person's unique professional and personal development. Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive an annual discretionary contribution to their 401(k) retirement savings plan from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. The amount of vacation and personal days available varies based on tenure and role type. Click here for more information regarding A&M's benefits programs.The salary range is $130,000 - $175,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.
