Materials ManagerLocation: Vance, AL (Tuscaloosa Area)Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire (FTE)Compensation: $125,000–$135,000 + 10% Bonus EligibleSchedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (flexible, on-call as needed)Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorshipAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Materials Manager to lead all materials operations at our automotive manufacturing facility in Vance, AL. This role is critical in ensuring efficient material flow in a lean, just-in-time (JIT) environment supporting automotive seating systems production.You will oversee inventory control, supplier coordination, logistics, and materials planning while partnering with cross-functional leadership to drive operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the Materials Department, including:1 Assistant Materials Manager (direct report)6+ Materials Specialists (indirect reports)Oversee material planning, scheduling, and inventory control in a JIT environmentMonitor supplier shipments and ensure on-time delivery to meet production demandsAnalyze inventory accuracy and resolve discrepanciesManage SAP Warehouse / Inventory SystemsCoordinate bill of materials (BOM) and material releasesDrive supplier performance improvement (quality, delivery, cost)Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, production, and leadership teamsLead continuous improvement initiatives (lean, waste reduction, cycle time)Develop and maintain strong supplier relationshipsOversee transportation and logistics planningManage departmental budgeting and cost controlLead hiring, training, and development of materials staffEnsure compliance with safety standards and TS16949 requirementsConduct and support physical inventory auditsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field5+ years of experience in materials management, logistics, or supply chain in manufacturingLeadership experience managing materials or warehouse teamsExperience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentKnowledge of:Inventory control systemsWarehousing operationsManufacturing processes and material flowExperience with SAP or similar ERP systemsStrong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work both strategically and hands-on on the plant floorPreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in a related fieldExperience in automotive manufacturingExperience in a JIT seating or supplier environmentAdvanced SAP expertiseWork EnvironmentPlant-based role with hands-on involvementNon-union facilityHigh-volume, fast-paced automotive manufacturing settingEqual Opportunity EmployerWe are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
