These IncludeTrustworthy – We strive for our actions to match our words in all our relationships.Servant – Hearted – We enable and empower our team to serve the needs of customers, Team members, suppliers and the community.Relational – We aim to build healthy relationships while fostering an environment that promotes compassion, balance, and personal and professional growth.Resourceful – We value strategic insourcing, first looking to create solutions internally, and then looking to apply that knowledge to future opportunities.Primary ResponsibilityThe Finishing Operator is responsible for the safe set up and operation of the Finishing equipment including the Window Film Machine and Gluer Machine ensuring high-quality corrugated packaging and products are produced at a consistent rate of speed in accordance with machine standards, production goals, and customer specifications.Secondary ResponsibilitiesSafely starts up, sets up and performs necessary machine adjustments to Finishing equipment including Window Film Machine and Gluer, as assigned during shift, in a consistent manner while adhering to required safety, quality, and production operating procedures.Reviews job ticket instructions prior to each run; ensures all necessary items and information is provided in order to produce job per customer specifications; verifies raw materials are correct and match the job ticket description.Cleans and prepares the wax machine for operation; ensures sufficient wax supply in coating container. Sets up the machine for specific jobs by reading instructions and measuring paper dimensions.Operates wax coater pump feed sheets into the curtain coater.Records job details, including job number and paper weight before and after waxing.Checks wax quality periodically using oil drop tests. Understands and executes cleaning procedures per SOP. (Wax Filter, Tank draining and cleaning, curing fan filters backstop/changing cleaning of material)General Housekeeping (Wax, Oil, Bands, Leaks, general debris)Understands how environment can affect the “Wax Curtain”Understands PPE requirements for the different job specific requirements.Produces quality packaging that meets target speeds and production goals; ensures precise measurements and proper alignments are performed within the allotted time frame established for the specific job.Reviews previous shift report to verify status of production run and any necessary information needed to complete the job; rotates through different finishing equipment as assigned and based on customer needs.Reviews job ticket instructions prior to each run; ensures all supplies and information is provided in order to produce job per customer specifications. Actively performs all SCT Quality procedures including required quality checks and obtaining required approvals; works with machine crew to continuously monitor production to ensure quality standards are consistent and meet customer specifications.Ensures a straight and smooth flow at the feeder section of window machine, utilizes attachments and adjusts achieve proper windowing; adjusts the stacking section to ensure blanks are stacking uniformly. Continuously monitors machine operation to detect any malfunctions and identifies defects or deviations from quality standards; performs machine adjustments and troubleshooting to correct defects. Trains and instructs back up Operator ensuring all training objectives are reviewed and completed.Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines; uses situational awareness and actively looks for weak signals to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions; consistently wears appropriate PPE for the task at hand and within the assigned area; immediately notifies Supervisor of any unsafe condition that exists.Reports any issues with equipment, supplies or raw material to Supervisor, Quality Manager and/or Maintenance department. Records defects or non-conforming items appropriately and notifies Supervisor or Quality Manager; ensures that finished products with defects are properly scrapped and discarded while consistently following procedures to minimize waste.Consistently wears appropriate PPE for the task at hand and within the assigned area (Gloves, apron, duster, metal tools, scrapping tools, scale, oil, face shield brass or softer material for knife cleaning (Wax head)Performs routine cleaning and preventative maintenance as scheduled on machine, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts.Troubleshoots issues or malfunctions with machinery and performs minor repairs when possible.Actively communicates issues with machinery to the maintenance technicians and works together to troubleshoot and resolve issues while minimizing downtime. Accurately records and completes productivity data and production notes for each job including start up times, down time, finished goods produced, raw material usage, waste, etc. Provides guidance, instruction, and assistance to machine crew to ensure product is meeting quality standards and within the run speeds and goals established.Communicates with upstream and downstream internal customers effectively to improve safety, quality, and efficiency of production.Actively seeks and adopts new updates and improvements to processes, new procedures, and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.Responsible for maintaining machines, equipment and work area that are within GMP and GFSI standards; assists the Food Safety Team in ensuring that product meets or exceeds GFSI standards.Maintains a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and supplies in accordance with the5S system. Operators may cross trains in other areas or on other machines as needed and perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. QualificationsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 3-6 months of machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment; Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize computer software. Requires mechanical aptitude and skills.
