Applications Scientist On-siteDietary Supplements & Functional FoodAbout the RoleSeeking an innovative and motivated Applications Scientist to join a growing Technical team. This role focuses on dietary supplement and functional food product development, supporting projects from concept through commercialization.The Applications Scientist collaborates closely with Sales, Production, Regulatory, and Supply Chain teams to develop custom formulations, prepare prototypes, and support new product launches for customers.Depending on experience and qualifications, the position may be filled at either the Applications Scientist I or Applications Scientist II level. This is an excellent opportunity for scientists who enjoy combining formulation science, customer collaboration, and product innovation in a fast-moving nutraceutical environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Development & InnovationDesign and develop custom formulations for dietary supplements and functional food productsPrepare prototype samples and conduct developmental testingPerform sensory evaluation and product optimizationEvaluate ingredient functionality and assist with raw material qualificationSupport pilot runs, scale-up, and first production launchesCustomer & Sales CollaborationPartner with the Sales team to support new product ideation and customer innovation projectsParticipate in technical customer meetings and consultationsDevelop formulation concepts and technical documentation for customer proposalsFormulation Costing & Commercial SupportPerform formulation costing and quote preparationIdentify cost optimization opportunities through ingredient sourcing and formulation improvementsSupport inventory and logistics considerations during product developmentRegulatory & Technical DocumentationPrepare and maintain R&D documentation including Preliminary Product Specifications (PPS), ingredient qualification documentation, and packaging qualification recordsSupport development of food safety plans and regulatory documentationAssist with label review and supplement facts panelsCross-Functional Technical SupportProvide technical support to Production, QA/QC, Regulatory, and Logistics teamsContribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to formulation and product developmentApplication Lab SupportMaintain ingredient and sample inventory for formulation workEnsure proper organization and maintenance of the application laboratorySupport lab equipment calibration and documentationQualificationsEducation Bachelor's degree or higher in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Food Technology, or a related scientific fieldExperienceApplications Scientist I1+ year of experience in food or dietary supplement product developmentApplications Scientist II3–5+ years of experience in dietary supplement or functional food formulationExperience managing product development projects from concept to commercializationDesired SkillsKnowledge of dietary supplement and functional food formulationExperience with powder blends, drink mixes, capsules, tablets, or functional ingredientsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent organization and project management skillsAbility to work effectively in a cross-functional team environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills
