Job DescriptionControls Design EngineerLocation: Holland, MI (Onsite)Compensation: $70,000 – $90,000 (DOE)OverviewA growing, engineering-driven manufacturer is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to support the design and development of custom automated equipment and integrated systems. This role is responsible for producing accurate electrical schematics, controls documentation, and design packages that align with customer requirements and industry standards.This is a hands-on, collaborative position working cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, project management, and applications teams to deliver high-quality, custom-engineered solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop electrical schematics and control system layouts using AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD platformsCreate complete electrical design packages including:Control panel layoutsBills of materials (BOMs)Terminal box layouts and component taggingGenerate and maintain supporting documentation such as:Interconnection diagramsSingle-line diagramsI/O lists and instrument listsConduit schedules and wiring documentationInterpret customer specifications and ensure all designs meet technical requirements and applicable standardsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define system functionality and ensure alignment with project scopeParticipate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement in performance, cost-efficiency, and manufacturabilityQualifications5+ years of experience in electrical/controls design within industrial or automated equipment environmentsProficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design softwareStrong understanding of AC/DC systems, industrial controls, and safety circuitsFamiliarity with NEC and NFPA standardsAbility to read and interpret pneumatic and hydraulic schematicsExperience with PLC programming is a plusExposure to UL 508A control panel standards is a plusWhat Sets This Opportunity ApartWork on custom, engineered-to-order systems—no repetitive design workHighly collaborative environment with direct exposure to full project lifecyclesStable, growing organization with strong leadership and investment in engineeringModernized facilities and a team-oriented cultureCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary: $70K – $90K (based on experience)Performance-based bonus structure401(k) with company contributionComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coveragePaid time off and holidaysParental leave and tuition reimbursementLong-term growth and advancement opportunitiesAdditional RequirementsMust be able to work onsite in Holland, MI Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
