IoT / Edge Software Engineer
Overview
In this role, you design, develop, and maintain edge software for IoT gateways to securely and reliably collect and transmit dosimeter data. You will implement AWS Greengrass-based solutions, BLE communication, and secure protocols to support real-time ingestion and device management. You’ll collaborate across architects, backend engineers, and security teams to ensure compliant, auditable edge-to-cloud workflows. This position focuses on robust, scalable edge software for secure radiation exposure data delivery and supported offline operation.

ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain edge software modules for IoT gateways, including BLE communication and secure data transmissionImplement and optimize AWS Greengrass components for Linux-based gatewaysDevelop secure device authentication, data encryption, and remote firmware updatesIntegrate edge software with AWS IoT Core, MQTT, and cloud servicesSupport real-time and batch data ingestion with disconnected operations and re-synchronizationCollaborate with security and DevSecOps teams to meet DoD IL4, FedRAMP, and RMF requirementsTroubleshoot and optimize edge performance, reliability, and securityMaintain technical documentation for edge components and deployment proceduresParticipate in code reviews, security assessments, and compliance auditsProvide technical support for field deployment and operations of edge solutions
Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in a quantitative fieldMinimum 3 years of software engineering experience1 yr experience backend services and APIs for cloud-based, IoT-enabled, or regulated federal systems1 yr experience applying modern software development methodologies (agile/DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS)US Citizen able to obtain a Secret Clearancestrong documentation and communication skillsteam collaborationproblem-solving mindsetPython, Java or similar languagesembedded LinuxMQTT messaging
