The role of ourteachers is to facilitate a dynamic learning environment that engages all students in arigorous, joyful educational experience that meets individual needs while holding allstudents to a high standard of performance.Our teachers collaborate with each other on an ongoing basis in their quest to continue theirdevelopment and professional growth. Teachers receive regular observation, coaching,professional development, and support from the Principal and other instructional coaches.Essential Duties:Prepare students in fundamentals and the required music literature to participate in rehearsals, competitions, and parades.Attend all rehearsals and performances, actively participating in assisting students insectional and whole group rehearsalsHiring and supervising marching staff (ex. Colorguard)Hosting large group festivalsOversees instruction of concert band, jazz band, pep band, guitar, piano and music theoryTeach marching fundamentals and drill for the competitive field programAssign large equipment responsibilities to students (drum major podium, props etc.)Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessaryMaintains control of storage and use of school propertyWork with Band BoostersCommunicates with parents, teachers, and school counselors on student progressSupervises students in out of classroom activities during the assigned working dayAdministers testing in accordance with district testing practicesModels nondiscriminatory practices in all activitiesSupports the development of the whole child including providing regular opportunities for social-emotional learning and character education.Complies with all applicable state and federal laws and district policies.Education and Certification:* Colorado Teaching License with music endorsement required.* Director will be required to complete a background check, alll CHSAA required training, and become certified to drive a school vehicle through the Montezuma-Cortez RE-1 Transportation Department.Experience and Skills:Excellent communication skillsInstructional leadership experience preferredHigh level of personal organization and planningTechnology proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPointCulture and Fit:Commitment to the mission and values of Montezuma Cortez Re-1Ambition and desire to grow as a leaderOpenness to feedbackMaintains and models high standards of personal and professional integrityCollaborative practitionerEssential Physical Demands:* Occasional lifting* Frequent sitting, standing and walkingSupervisory Duties: None.Reports to: PrincipalThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
