Responsible for the evaluation of unit specific educational needs and delivery of education to develop and enhance professional performance and skills within the specialty area. Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates all overall clinical education and administrative activities; including fiscal, material and human resource management. Participates in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures. Maintains open communication with licensed and non-licensed pediatric as well as ancillary department staff that provide pediatric services to promote improvement in performance. This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice and exceptional leadership abilities.POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.• Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN) is required (must be obtained within three (3) years of hire), MSN is preferred.• Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure in the state of Texas required.• Minimum of 3 years clinical nursing experience required; hospital experience preferred.• One year of formal teaching experience or nursing professional development preferred.• Certification in nursing specialty preferred• Current BLS. BLS and ACLS instructor card can be accepted for provider certification.• ACLS Certification within 6 months of hire date• Must become BLS and ACLS Instructor within 24 months of hire date. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
