Thermoform Operator
Job Summary
We’re looking for a hands-on Thermoform Operator to join our sign fabrication team. This role is responsible for producing high-quality thermoformed sign faces from start to finish preparing molds, operating thermoforming equipment, and ensuring each product meets quality standards. If you’re detail-oriented, comfortable working with machinery and computers, and enjoy figuring things out on the fly, this could be a great fit!
What You’ll Do
Mold Preparation & CNC Routing
Prepare and route molds using CNC equipment and hand tools
Interpret CAD/CAM files to set up routing paths
Select, stack, secure, sand, and finish wood molds to ensure smooth forming surfaces
Perform basic CNC maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues
Thermoforming Operations
Load and secure plastic sheets into thermoforming machines
Monitor heating, forming, and cooling cycles
Adjust machine settings based on material type and job specifications
Inspect formed sign faces for defects and dimensional accuracy
Digital File Setup
Work with CAD/CAM files to support routing and thermoforming processes
Ensure correct file formats and machine compatibility
Collaborate with design team to resolve file or layout issues
Painting & Finishing
Perform minor paint work or coordinate with the paint team
Inspect painted faces for color accuracy, coverage, and finish quality
Apply sealants or protective coatings as needed
Quality Control & Safety
Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards
Document quality issues and communication concerns promptly
Maintain equipment and keep work areas clean and organized
Follow all safety guidelines for machinery and material handling
Continuous Improvement
Troubleshoot production challenges as they arise
Learn new techniques and adapt to evolving processes
Recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste
What We’re Looking For
Experience with CNC routers and basic woodworking
Comfortable using hand tools and working with computers
Ability to read and work from CAD/CAM or design files
Some paint experience or the ability to direct paint work and perform quality checks
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and team-focused
